Alconox 1404 Alcojet Nonionic Low-Foaming Powdered Detergent, 4lbs Box

I love this stuff for cleaning mass spectrometry optics. If you’re in this niche business read on. Note I have also used it for dishwashing at home and cleaning my clothes washing machine. Disherwasher, works well. Washing machine, too expensive of a product for such use. I’ve used liquinox for a long time, the liquid for of alconox. Liquinox doesn’t travel well. Alconox foams like crazy, as does liquinox but at least that’s in a liquid form so you can mix it up easy. This I purchased exclusively so I could get a stronger soap without the bubbling. No matter the beaker, I will put enough powder in to cover the bottom entirely and then some. So about 2-3 millimeters thick of alcojet. Hot water, sonicator, and mix it up until dissolved. Put your optics in the sonicator for about 30 minutes and usually anything that needs to come off, comes off. You can finish with 6000+ grit micromesh to your satisfaction. I almost never do that anymore because I don’t need to. Rinse in hot or warm tap water. A lot. At least 5 minutes of flushing. Rinse off the tap with distilled or deionized, whatever you’ve got. Next step is 50% methanol. Then 100% methanol, and dry with nitrogen. I’ve been cleaning mass spec optics like this for about 3 years and I’ve yet to have a single problem with the technique and I get lots of compliments from coworkers and customers alike about how the optics look like new when I’m done. I know when I’m done with my cleaning, the mass spec is clean. Any issues remaining are not cleanliness related. Always. I’m sure you could get the same result with alconox, but I just dislike the foaming so much. Too messy.

I use this product as part of "The Ultimate CPAP Cleaning Kit." It's extremely easy to rinse, leaves no residue, does not have a strong odor and of course is highly effective. My manufacturer, like most, recommends using baby shampoo as a daily cleanser. However, I disliked the perfumes. This is almost odorless. Another added benefit is it's non-ionic property - making it compatible with most disinfectants. This is the best detergent you can buy when dealing with sticky things that would other wise ruin what ever material it’s on this stuff will get it clean

If you are disappointed with the performance of modern phosphate-free dishwashing detergents, give this a try. This does contain phosphates (8.7%), so it will work like you remember detergents working before phosphates were banned for environmental reasons. I was sick of my dishes coming out with a film and even the most expensive quantum dishwasher detergent didn't take care of it. I'm familiar with Alconox products in the lab, they always work well so I decided to buy myself a box for at home. Yes, it's more expensive, but it will be worth it when you have clean dishes again! It worked very well for me, as I would expect from an Alconox product. Alcojet does contain an organic chlorine ingredient, so you may notice a little bleach smell. It's possible this may dull or damage painted dishes over time, so use with care. For sensitive items, I use a traditional detergent and add some TSP powder (phosphate) as a booster. For dishwasher usage, I would recommend you use one tablespoon per load and adjust +/- from there. If your dishes are mostly clean and you have soft water a teaspoon may be plenty. If water spots are a problem after using Alcojet, you may also want to try using their Citrajet product during the final rinse as an acid wash. You can add it manually during the final rinse or fill your rinse aid dispenser (it's possible Citrajet may damage metal parts in your rinse aid dispenser since it's corrosive, so use at your own risk). Otherwise, you can periodically put all your (otherwise clean) water spotted items in the dishwasher, fill the detergent cup up with citric acid powder, and run a cycle. Citric acid may tarnish some metals FYI.

Bought this because we use the standard Alconox at the lab I work at and it's really good. This cleans our dishes really well, much better than store bought detergents. Used this on several pairs of shoes and it legitimately made them look nearly new.

It didn't work well in our in our jetted tub. There were too many bubbles when we tried to clean it.

Product works but just not very well for my needs. It doesn't penetrate or break-up fuel and motor oils on my carburetor cleanings; still have better luck just using Dawn Ultra dish soap in the respect. I was hoping that the higher pH12 mix would do better than the neutral Dawn mix. So anyone with oily cleaning needs I would not recommend this product.
