The deluxe is almost 1" thicker. My husband said he really didn't notice a difference. The only thing is that the deluxe might not flatten out as quickly. We bought the standard in 2011 and it kept it's loft for about 1 year. We replaced it with the deluxe about 9 months ago and it still has loft. It stays on the drivers seat in my husband's car. It gets used every day. He is 145lbs. **Q: what are the dimensions of this cushion and how thick is it?** A: 17 1/2" wide by 14 1/4" long. 1/2" thick in the front, 2 1/2" thick in the back. This one is definitely more inferior in quality but it was cheap and it still works. I use it in the car. I don't know how long it will last but it didn't cost much. As well as being comfortable and encouraging better, coccyx-saving posture, it's a good insulator, so if you've miscalculated what to on a chillier than expected day, at least one part of you will stay warm!
