Functional, sturdy, attractive
I used these hangers to get my guitar collection off floor stands and onto the wall. This looks even better than I expected - now I can really see and appreciate the guitars. The hangers themselves are well-made and easy to install, once you figure out placement*. I didn't even need a drill. I just started each screw (provided) with a hammer, and screwed it in the wall. If I hit a stud, I was done. If no stud, I backed the screw out and screwed in a wallboard anchor (provided), then screwed the screw back in the wall. I found the hangers plenty secure with the provided anchors, and didn't feel the need to mount the hangers on separate boards anchored to studs as other reviewers have done. Not using separate boards not only simplified installation, it also gives a cleaner look in my opinion. The hangers themselves look and feel high-quality. The hooks can be widened or narrowed, but I found them fine as-is. The hooks can be rotated, which accommodates different headstock shapes and makes it easier to make the guitars straight vertical. *As for placement, I made two rows of hangers, one 20.5" higher than the other. This allowed me to stagger the upper and lower rows so that headstocks of the lower guitars are about level with the shoulders or horns of the upper guitars, and the necks of the lower guitars are centered between the widest parts of the upper guitar bodies. This made a display of 9 guitars in about 91" of wall space. Even though the guitars are varied - acoustic and electric, 36" - 44" in length - the display looks good. I spaced the upper hangers horizontally so that there is a minimum of about 4" between the widest parts of each pair of guitars. This required deciding in advance the arrangement of the guitars, and customizing the horizontal spacing for each guitar because they are so different. I horizontally spaced the lower row so the necks of the lower guitars are centered between the upper guitars.

Works great for things that won't fit in normal string swing (classical, 5/6 string basses)
I have lots of String swings, and like the others, this one works great. It holds instruments that won't fit well in those (for me, classical guitar and 5/6 string basses...5 strings will fit in the original, but it is tight, and the 6 won't fit at all). I have not used the little rings, but have had no issues on the wall. I have some metal like this, and some wood. I wanted a different look for a different room and went metal this time, but they are all equally well made, and sturdy, even though the metal is thinner than the wood blocks on the original.

Nice Axe Hanger!
I installed 6 of these today: 3 units thru sheetrock into the studs using only the screws (2), and 3 units using the sheetrock anchors (2) with screws (2) into those anchors. Both methods were easy and painless. The anchor system works as well as the stud method, both handling the weight of different types of guitars. I hung 2 Strats, a Tele, a Manhattan, an ES335 and an acoustic Taylor. Absolutely no problems and no adjustments needed. Once hung, the Strats and Tele were about 3" from the wall, the ES335 and the Manhattan about 2" and the Taylor about 1.5". So there's no wall rash to occur. The fork screws into the base and is solid as a rock. Nice looking too. I did use the donuts on the forks but I didn't really need to. Two thumbs up and a big 5 rating!

Strong, affordable, easy to use...what's the problem?
I am at a complete loss to understand why anyone would need "better instructions" on attaching the washers on the yoke, but here are those instructions several reviewers have requested. 1. Take off the black end caps on the yokes. 2. Stick on the washers. 3. Replace the black end caps. These hangers are ridiculously easy to use. The package gives instructions (contrary to some reviews) on adjusting yoke width: "To widen, grasp each arm of the yoke and pull apart. To narrow, put hand around yoke arms and squeeze." Don't see what's so complicated about that, myself. Seriously, they're dead-simple to set up. I couldn't use the drywall anchors because my walls are painted paneling; I can't speak to the effectiveness of those included hangers. I put up a backboard mounted on studs and used #8 panhead screws, as recommended by another reviewer, to mount the hangers on the backboards. I have several of these hangers and intend to buy several more. My instruments are working instruments, not *just* wall art. I bought these hangers intending to use them, take the instruments down and put them back, and these hangers are great for that use. That said, if you want to hang your instruments and mainly leave them hanging, you can trust these hangers. While I do feel a little sarcastic when people complain about ridiculous things that are their problem and not an issue with the product, these hangers truly are dead-simple to use and very reliable. Some reviewers have suggested buying the wood hanger for acoustic guitars because this one allows the guitar to bump into the wall. That's just false. I have three acoustic guitars and five of these hangers. I tried all three guitars (but only one hanger) on a flat wall before mounting them on the backboard. This hanger has a substantial post, and the metal bracket is convex. I would be very surprised if anyone who actually owns this hanger and an acoustic guitar has bumped their guitar against the wall in the course of normal use. I don't see how you could, if you're not rough or careless. If you bump your guitar with this, you would do it with any hanger I've ever seen, because the wall clearance is the same.
