Peterson StroboStomp HD Pedal Tuner

I've been using this pedal in my pedalboard for about 3 years, and overall I love it. When I bought it, the other tuner that I was considering was the BOSS TU-3 Chromatic Tuner, which I was already familiar with. For dead-on accuracy, the Peterson StroboStomp HD is the best, I don't think any other tuner comes close in a pedal format. The many customized "sweetenings" are really cool, though one does not need to use them in order use the pedal effectively, other than using the basic guitar or bass sweeteners. Works great on my Stratocaster as well as on my fretless jazz bass. However, there are a few issues with the StroboStomp HD that I think could be improved on: 1. It needs to be more friendly for pedalboards. I had to peel off the rubber base on the bottom of the pedal in order to properly secure it on my pedalboard. Boss pedals are so much easier work with on pedalboards. 2. As some reviewers have noted, some of the buttons are oddly placed right where one would want to grab the pedal. This can be frustrating, and again, I have to give a nod to BOSS in terms of having a better form factor overall in terms of placement of controls/functions. Also, be aware that the screen is large, which is a blessing and a curse in that while it's easy to read, it can be prone to scratches or even cracks if not handled with care. Peterson sells a screen protector for it and I highly recommend purchasing it with the pedal. These shortcomings do not effect the performance of the StroboStomp HD. It is a superb tuner pedal. Hopefully Peterson will address these issues in future revisions of this great pedal.

Fantastic tuner! I love using this because it instantly shows the tuning of my bass as I'm playing. Use a 9vdc power supply - don't use a battery unless you have to. Programmable, and 100s of preset tuning sweeteners. A little bit difficult to learn, but it works right out of the box with just the default settings if you don't want to bother with downloading or updating the firmware. Looks great on my pedal board, and the large readout is easily readable in almost any lighting situation. Color looks great to, and it is a standard pedal size.

I was looking for a tuner with a bright display that worked well for playing outdoor events and the Peterson StroboStomp is perfect. It is most importantly a super accurate tuner, but it's large, bright display makes it ideal for playing shows outdoors where bright sun can render other tuners unreadable. It's built like a tank too and will be part of my pedal board for years to come. Update: After using this pedal for a year and a half there are a couple of drawbacks which other reviewers have also highlighted. The first is the rubber base. It is super heavy duty and works great on most surfaces protecting the surface as well as the pedal, however if you are mounting the pedal on a pedal board as in my application the rubber surface makes attaching velcro strips difficult. It holds for a bit and then needs to be replaced. I have gone through 2 or three replacement strips over the year. The second issue is the placement of the side buttons. This is actually not much of an issue if the pedal is mounted to a board but if you are having to pick up or grab the loose pedal you would hit those and have to find your setting again. Others have complained about the screen being fragile and while it is probably the weakest part of the incredibly well built case I haven't had any issues. I ended up leaving the plastic film over the screen on which the pedal shipped with and it hasn't affected the performance at all. I also keep the tuner on my pedal board and take it to gigs in a case which I would recommend.

An excellent quality investment!! The tuner display is bright and easy to read under any stage lighting. Very well designed. Built to Peterson’s highest standard!!

It's a tuner but it's a very accurate tuner. The display is bright and easy to read. It seemed expensive until you use it the first time and realize how much money was wasted when you should have bought this one first and had a superior product.

I’m sad that I waited so long to get this. Kept messing with clip-ons and apps for years and was never satisfied with the results. One single tuning with this and it’s a completely different world 🤯 I doubt I’ll use the many tunings stored in the pedal, but it’s nice to know the options are there if I want them. Do not hesitate to buy this.

I had the previous generation, too, which was also great. The look different, but function the same. There's no better stomp box tuner, for sure, nothing comes close as far as accuracy is concerned. It's VERY easy to see, too. My only criticism is that it's easy to inadvertently scroll through presets by accidentally touching the buttons on the side. In other words, as bass player might suddenly be tuning to some sort of sweetened mandolin tuning. Not good...I wish there were a way to lock it, but there doesn't seem to be. Be careful handling this thing. Otherwise, these are the best!

Très bon accordeur. Assez déroutant au début avec ses formes géométrique qui tournent. Mais une fois que l'on a compris c'est nickel. Produit cher par rapport à d'autres accordeurs, mais celui-ci possède d'autres fonctions que je n'ai pas encore utilisé.

Desde que vi la caja me di cuenta que era un pedal de calidad, y al abrirla el pedal lucía con excelentes acabados y a pesar de que es un poquito grande es muy bonito. La pantalla es muy llamativa y bajo el sol se sigue viendo sin problemas, afina muy rápido y es demasiado presiso, además se actualiza vía cable USB desde su página en la cual mejoran el software, no es muy constante pero el soporte sigue.el único "pero" es que , como se comenta, trae su sticker con Velcro para poder adaptarlo a tu pedalera pero este no pega en la goma que trae en la parte inferior, está la tuve que quitar(se quitó muy fácil) y adapte mis propios velcros y sin problema la adapte a mi pedalera como se ven las imágenes. Un excelente pedal y muy útil.

This is the best tuner that I have ever owned and I have owned many tuners over several decades of playing. The StroboStomp HD is very, very clear and very accurate. Most tuners leave me tweaking the guitar to fix slight, but very annoying, inaccuracies in the tuning of the G and B strings but this one is spot on. It rather invites tiny adjustments which can slow things down a bit so I won't be using this for live work yet. However, in the studio it's absolutely perfect.

Bought this to replace my TC Electronic Polytune mini when it's switch crapped out. I need a tuner that's accurate, easy to see, reliable for live applications and for setting intonation on my guitars. I was looking to get a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner since it gets high praise and it is a strobe. Then I saw that Peterson had introduced the Strobostomp HD recently and thought I'd take a chance since I love their tuner app on my phone so much and well, they did set the standard with their big box strobe tuners! This thing is great, solid build quality, easy to see, lots of sweetened tuning options, easy menus, choice of true bypass or buffered bypass, I love it! We'll see if it stands up over time but I'm pretty sure it will, switch feels good and the unit has some weight. This unit might be overkill for some, a solid, reliable Boss tu-3 would do just fine in most cases, but if you want a strobe with a big display that fits on your board with lots of tuning options, and you do your own set ups, I highly recommend this unit. Ease of use = read the included instructions for deeper editing.
