However, when I finally decided to drive the Miata, I found the battery was completely dead. I had to manually open the trunk from the hard top, only to realize that the jump starter I thought was in there was missing. I took the battery to two local automotive places, both of which confirmed that it was a dud and couldn't hold a charge.Reluctant to spend nearly $200 on a new battery, I brought the battery home and watched YouTube videos on opening it up and attempting some unconventional fixes. During my time at the automotive shops, someone mentioned a trickle charger, so I did more research and this product recommended on Reddit. Thinking, "Why not," placed the order, received it and I connected the charger and left it for a month.With my tags expiring in July 2023, I decided to check on the car battery. To my surprise, the battery was back in business.Feeling optimistic but still lacking car knowledge, I drove it for errands, deciding to also include getting the car detailed. We laughed it off, realizing that was likely the problem.Since I lacked car knowledge and wanted to be safe, I opted to trade the battery in for a new one to obtain the warranty, especially since I had bought the car used with its original battery.All of this made me realize that I could have avoided these issues if I had known what I was doing.
