I found these tips to be more stable than other tip I used. I loved how the ribs come up each side which gave added traction for both uphill and downhill trails. They were a little slick on wet trails, but I have had the same problem with all tips I have used. While I also like using rubber feet, I like how I don't have to worry about twisting the feet on these tips to make sure they aren't sideways. I highly doubt I will hit the 500 mile advertised rate, but even 100 miles will be double the life of any other tips I tested. They stay on well - although it may still be wise to tape them on since they are so expensive. These tips are so much better than what I had before. Due to the design, you can really rock the walking stick forward and back as you walk, and it rolls with your stride. But the best thing for me is that they do not slip on wet surfaces! I tried another tip that was non-skid, but it was flat and really made for canes, and I had to plant the stick straight which made my hand hurt. These tips work really well on wet surfaces, which is important for me, since I go to an indoor pool twice a week, and I use the walking stick for stability. And I really did not want to have to change tips for different occasions. These tips work well on all surfaces. I've been using it for several weeks now, and other than the little nib of the central rubber nodule, they haven't shown any wear at all. They are a little big for my walking stick, but fit quite snuggly after I put a rubber band on the stick. They come 2 to a package, so it's nice to know that I have a backup if this one does wear out at some point.
