Pilot Varsity Disposable Fountain Pens, Blue Ink, Medium Point, Pack of 6

PROS: Thrifty Pen, Writes well, Gets the craving for writing again with a fountain pen either satisfied or this will be a stepping stone to an even better fountain pen. Nice broad stroke CONS: You have to be sensitive as to the paper you are using again. Certain papers will spread the ink out and make your writing look sloppy, and mine is plenty sloppy already. Not officially refillable although there are videos on how people are refilling these pens. Extremely light so not as smooth writing. The feel is just like any other dollar store pen so don't expect luxury, but it delivers on a nice smooth line on quality paper. Yes I'd buy these again and recommend to anyone that is curious about owning a thrifty fountain pen. bdv

Everyday, I write personal notes, journal entries, thoughts, and reminders by hand which an essential part of how I work through the happenings of my life and look back to see my progress or plan for my future. This pen has been my constant companion throughout this process and I cannot find a replacement that feels as good, works as well, or saves me money like this product. Because I live a fast paced life always moving from one thing to the next, I appreciate that this fountain pen is durable, easy to use, comfortable, and ultimately disposible. The smooth flow of ink means you'll never have to redo a faded phrase or scratch the page w a dry tip. The richness of the blue ink gives your words a vibrancy that pops, and the self contained, simple, but tough packaging means no mess or fuss.

Do you love pens? I love pens. In this day where everything is composed on a computer screen with a keyboard or digital device, I really love nice flowing ink on thick creamy paper. Unfortunately, my job doesn’t allow me to do very much actual pen and paper writing, and I’m more productive with an electronic to do list, so my one luxury is my signature. I’m a manager and I sign a lot of documents. Thousands per year. I’ve used scores of ballpoints and gel pens, but my favorite are fountain pens. The problem with fountain pens are twofold – they’re expensive and they dry out/skip. Typical fountain pens require ink replacement cartridges. This means the ink can dry out in the nib and if your cartridge doesn’t seat well when you replace it, it can skip, clog, dry out, etc. So you have cost, mess, and annoyance. These pens are the best of the fountain pen world – at least for me. They’re disposable, which means the ink is sealed. There’s no muss and no fuss. When one finally dies – and they really do last quite a while – you throw it away and break out a new one. They rarely ever skip. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had one of these disposable fountain pens skip. They come in standard colors – my preference is the blue. Finally, the cost is low for the quality! Low enough that I don’t have to get too upset when my coworkers fall in love with one and ask if they can just keep it.

Favorite fountain pens, color quality ink

I love to write with fountain pens but am afraid to take my cherished, costly pen with me for fear of loosing it. I never dreamed I’d be able to purchase a quality, disposable fountain pen. These pens are the real thing. They write very well and the ink lasts a long time. I favor the blue ink and carry one with me all the time. Haven’t lost one yet, but have given quite a few to admirers.

I've bought MANY of these pens. The ink is smooth, never stutters, and the color is rich (all colors, but I use blue the most). The price is reasonable and I find that they last a long time. I have two complaints: 1. the cap often cracks (I fix this with a bit of tape), a minor annoyance, and 2. The lower edge of the barrel has a sharp transition/edge. If my hand gets that low on the barrel, it is uncomfortable. I recently tried a couple of other brands and found the varsity to stop be superior in color, reliability, and smoothness. These are my favourite pens so I ordered them in two colours. All the convenience of a ballpoint with the feel and style of a fountain pen.

These pens bring out the expressive writing style in me, as the light weight and feel of the pen glides effortlessly across the pages. I find that the ink dries quickly, no runs. I would definitely purchase again.
