I did not get it for the beach exclusively. I have a 10x10 tent which I am going to use for the ground cover. I bought two to guarantee the waterproof. My opinion is that this is thin but made well enough. Probably better for the beach than a wet camping trip but that is why I would recommend two. if you also have a 10x10 tent this is PERFECT as needs no folds and can stake down fully extended!!
