Magna Carta are one of Europe's most popular acoustic music groups, founded by singer, guitarist and composer Chris Simpson in 1969 when this debut album was first released on the Fontana label. At the time of the LP, the influential rock weekly Melody Maker described them as 'The ultimate English Folk Rock outfit'. This album (also known as This Is Magna Carta and Times of Change) remains a splendid piece of work, with some beautiful compositions, sensitive vocal harmonies and gentle guitar rhythms. And I don't even come from Yorkshire, although I have two son in laws that do. This is the first of the Magna Carta records, and as the years progress the sound changes not least because the line up changes. If you like Fairport Convention, Pentangle etc you will probably like this.

Nach 20 Jahren suchen endlich gefunden. Die Musik is frisch und bezauberend wie eh und jeh. Magna Carta ist seit mehr als 40 Jahren meine Topband. Wim Tummers

Had this on vinyl when it first came out after seeing them live at a folk concert at Newport S Wales
