Practice of Brahmacharya

This is a must-have if you are a serious and committed yogi yearning to progress in the spiritual path and looking for directions on how to effectively practice Brahmacharya. This book conveys why Brahmacharya is important and how to practice that effectively. This is not a casual read. If you are in the path of marriage or practice yoga just as a physical exercise this book might not be required for you. It might make you not interested in sexual indulgence so if you are already in a relationship, think twice before reading this book.

It has lot if interesting insights maybe a good read for people interested in brahmacharya. I picked up lot of good points from this book which i am pretty sure will be highly beneficial.

This is an inspiration to my spirit and has given me what was needed to further my understanding and practice.

Highly impressive speed of delivery! The item arrived in good condition, but didn't look as fresh/new as described – some pages were slightly folded, which was most likely a result of Amazon's packaging ways. Come on, guys.. Also, the book's pages seem to be a bit too thick (like A4 sheets thick), however, it shouldn't affect the reading experience much. Just pointed that out.

The book was delivered with a handwritten "Thank You" note. Not many books come with that right...? This book was delivered in top-most quality just fresh out of the paper mill. Highly recommended this book for every household!!!

One of the very good books that I have read about the real meaning of Brahmacharya, Yoga ,the real path towards the knowledge of the self from a very authoritative person.

I bought a copy of this book somewhere around 1988 -1990 from JAI's religious book stall in the dutch bazaar : STABROEK MARKET ,Georgetown. I had never heard about this book before and i thought i might learn something. The subject "Brahmacharya" was often featured in hindu discourses and books . In fact , it was an important experiment of M.K. GANDHI . To my surprise , it answered almost all of the problems that are perplexing teenagers from my generational gap. It is a scientific argument , a treatise that advocates the necessity of chaste living . I later learnt that only 2 authors have so far presented such indepth insights in modern times. I later read a similar book , "BRAIN GAIN " by Danavir Goswami , an American Hare Krishna monk . These were classic books that addressed the misery of mankind in spiritual and scientific contexts . I wished that i had known these esoteric secrets from childhood . So i thereby was enabled to understand why religions are so valuable to some nations and why religions can even lead to war and blood shed. A good handbook and guide which every teenager should own.

This book tells it how it is. Brahmacharya is essential if one is to go beyond mere self realisation to complete peace in this world.

Must read for every one, who wants to follow the Brahmacharya.

Swami sivananda full of judgements on the youth of india. saying how they are raised weak with passion emotion and sexual tendancies. The best way is to learn the hard way. be flooded with all the bad things you find the things that are beneficial and nourish the soul. The book is poorly written, just full of claims, he never speaks of his own experiences. This book was not written from the higher being but from the egoist mind.

Practice of Bramacharya by Swami Sivananda is a gem indeed , it is a book which should be read by every men. Life established in Bramacharya, increasesyour vigour , limits daily struggles and brings both material and spiritual progress. I have started practicing Bramacharya, it is very hard and requires a lot of willpower and mental strength, but once you get it , nobody can stop you from achieving your goals. Peace be upon all :)

Great book. I have always heard people say practice Brahmacharya and all. But no one really knows what is it actually or how to do. Some so called Yoga gurus even aren't aware of how it should be. This book took all my preconcieved notions of Brahmacharya and gave a well-scripted manual on how to practice. Being a youth, I'm sad I couldn't get it sooner. This should have been taught in our schools even, that is the content of the book. It has contents helpful for both men and women. There are concerns that this can't be applied in a modern world. But, trust me, if you are living alone and is willing enough, you can do almost 80% of it(without hurting your job or studies or daily plans. In fact, it even oushes up your productivity). And you can even survive easily with 50%. You can actually feel the metamorphosis of yourself towards something great. Please be aware, this is not a reader's book. If you are going to read it and toss it, don't go for it. As I have said, it is a manual. This is not a book like The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari(where practices are explained along a storyline) and all.
