However, if you look at it logically: Three Leclanché cells in series give 4.5 volts. Three rechargeable cells in series give 3.6 volts which is only 80% of the ordinary battery. I'm guessing that the lamp will light up. How bright it would be, I have no idea and because you are starting with less stored energy, the the lamp won't be lit for as long as with the standard battery.
