When it arrives, the branches are somewhat compacted and you have to spread them out. **Q: Do these really look real? Even on a sunny, outdoor, uncovered patio where people will be seated right next to them? Thank you!!** A: If you're sitting directly next to it, you will probably be able to tell it's not real. Mine is right beside my front door, and everyone thinks it's real. I get compliments on it frequently. Balls are thick and sturdy, so thick that it was hard to shove little twinkle lights in it, though I persevered. The base is HEAVY. Obviously you have to conceal the teeny base in another pot, but once you do and cover it with decorative rocks, this baby isn't going anywhere. Withstood gale-force winds on the front porch throughout winter. And -- bonus!! -- it seems to repel spiders.
