Do I need to get wax, what kind. Is the heddle hook included...** A: When I received my kit, all parts to assemble loom are included. It was easy to put together (says someone who enjoys assembling IKEA furniture). The wax is to smooth the wood as you put tight fitting pieces together. I did. It need it, though believe you could just use the side of a white candle if needed. Yes a hook is included as well as warping hooks. All you need is yarn and you can start weaving. **Q: What comes with the loom? Shuttles, hook etc.?** A: The loom, which must be assembled - but it's not hard - comes with a warping peg and 2 clamps, a threading hook, 2 shuttles, a number of cardboard warping sticks, and a reed or heddle. Also included is a very well-done booklet that clearly explains, and shows in color photos, how to direct warp the loom, then weave and finish a simple practice weaving. It comes with everything you need to get started, except the yarn! **Q: Doesn't this loom store easily?** A: Yes it does. It is very sturdy but light weight. I have had mine for over a year and very happy with it. You can actually put hooks on the wall and store it that way. With nothing nearby, I went online and watched countless YouTube videos for ideas. I built a simple loom using picture frame parts from a hobby store and bought a variety of yarns of different textures. For several months, I "played" and experimented, always returning to the internet to find new ideas and help with problems I encountered. I eventually met a weaver at an art gallery who offered a few helpful tips, too. Throughout it all, I spent a fair amount of time looking online at - and dreamed about buying - "a real loom." After researching and several months of experimenting on my frame loom, I finally decided to go for it. I had chose an Ashford loom and haven't had a moment of regret since it arrived. I wasn't disappointed by the need to wax the pieces before assembly, as I knew it was going to be part of getting my new loom up and running. Instead, I made it an enjoyable task, my way of bonding, if you will, with my loom. I sat out on our deck and listened to good music while I applied the wax. I had few problems assembling the loom, and finally was ready to start! I will admit that warping the loom the first time was a bit of a challenge, and took me quite a while as I had to keep checking the instructions. But the nice thing is that between the booklet that came with the loom and the video online by Ashford, it's do-able! And each time I warp my loom now, I get a little faster and more confident. Being able to direct warp on this loom is great, and as a beginner, I've really appreciated the simplicity and speed with which I can get a project started. I've made several beautiful wraps on this loom already (and one massively long scarf, oops) and have plans for several more. Further, this loom is, in my opinion, just the right size for a beginner.
