Is this a good canidate for ues in conjuction with a telescope.** A: Short answer: yes More nuanced answer: sorta For an adult, 12x60 is just about the largest, most powerful glasses that will be practical to handhold. 12x magnification is on the high side for handheld astronomy; they will require frequent rest breaks. The higher the magnification, the shakier the image will be and of course the heavier the shakier. The view however, should be pretty stunning. For the average beginner, 10x50 is probably a more satisfying choice, simply because they'll be much easier to use. Just about the all around best, however, is 7x50; also ideal for children. They're economical, ubquitous and the 7x magnification is very forgiving with a stunningly wide angle, bright and rich view. 7x50 will show Jupiter as a small, bright, featureless disc with a line of dim yellow 'stars' across it. Saturn will not show the rings, but will appear as distinctly different from a star and while very small, may appear vaguely football shaped. Any combination of 7 - 12x and 42 - 63mm is a great companion to a small telescope, for scanning and planning, or just casual stargazing. **Q: are these to heavy to watch a football game** A: They're pretty heavy to be holding up to your eyes for long periods of time.
