They appear and sound exactly the same, apart from a removable plate on the HD.** A: hi ! The hd 1000 has micro adjustement , not the xr-1000 . It will take more time to acheive balance on the xr version .If you have the money go with the hd version ! The EOS 1200D body is about 1 pound. So, it should work. Just be aware that this style of stabilizer is (at least in my experience) very hard to balance and learn to use well, even if the camera meets the spec. **Q: Will this work with my canon t5i. lens 55-250mm? And does it really balance in the end.** A: I would be concerned using it with that lens configuration. I use it with my Canon t2i, and the 24mm pancake. I also use a quick release plate and get good balance and decent smoothness. Β I have rented an hd4000, an hd2000 and a xr2000 in the past. this was my first Glidecam purchase. it really is a fantastic. for this price (144$ right now) there is no point buying a knock off. there may be some good ones, but the ones I have owned (two IMORDEN Carbon S-40c Handheld Camera Stabilizer for Gopro, Canon, Sony, Panasonic Dslr Camera(0.5~3lbs) with 50mm-Quick Release Β are not worth the compromise for the small price difference. it is hard to balance without fine adjustment knobs, but it is doable. it took me around 15min to balance it with a 3 second (real "one thousand one, one thousand two..." seconds). one good trick is you can use some small (~10g) neodymium magnets on the top and bottom of the camera plate. you can slide them around tiny amounts to fine tune the balance.if you can afford it, get a HD-1000, it has fine adjustment knobs. see if there are any used demos available from glidecam, they are selling them right now for 299$. if you cannot afford it, get this. don't waste your time with other brands unless you know they are of high quality.the video is one of the first tests I did with this unit.
