Thank you.** A: I've been using several of their products for nearly 10 years. 2lb closed cell, 1lb open, and slow rise close cell foam. If you do not want to experience shrinkage, follow the directions very carefully and apply in 1 in lifts. Keeping in mind that after the first lift you have created a vapor and insulation barrier that can cause the foam to overheat. That is when you can cause all kinds of issues, including shrinkage if you apply too much. I start on one side of the room and work my way around several times to do a full cavity fill in the end. I was just in my crawl space under the stairs two days ago and was looking at my first job of filling in the area over the sills. That was 10 years ago and no shrinkage for 14"x11.5"x10" for each cavity using a fast rise closed cell. It's not a huge area, so I had to stop and wait for each round, good thing they give you more than enough spray tips in the box. Open cell foam by itself will stop most of the air movement, but won't stop moisture penetration or prevent condensation from forming inside your walls, and provides an insulation value of R-3.6 per inch.You can use closed cell foam in combination with open cell. How is this determined while spraying and is this correct?** A: As Otto said, It is a little messy, and you do need the respirator and full suit, and yes use some brown paper on the floor. Watch the videos on you tube to get the best idea how to spray with the least mess. I did it in a crawl space and then on my back for a ceiling.
