Tub Transfer Bench with Swivel Seat, for Elderly & Disabled, Standard

My mother, 85, has Stage 7 Alzheimer's. She is unable to care for herself at all. While sitting, she leans to the right and cannot keep herself from falling. We have caregivers for her 15 hours per day, 7 days per week. The morning caregiver must bathe my mother each morning. This enables the caregiver to move my mother into and out of the tub easily. The seatbelt prevents my mother from falling off. The seat is very well designed and constructed. (I'm an engineer. So, I have a reasonable idea of what design and construction should be.) It assembles, and disassembles, very easily. It is light enough to move easily, but heavy enough to be stable. On the back of the seat, there is a red button that unlocks the swivel. The chair swivels 90 degrees at a time, locking in place each quarter turn. The chair slides horizontally, left and right, along two rails. There are two red clips on one rail of the chair that unlock the horizontal. When the chair is moved to one end or the other, it locks in place with a spring-loaded metal button. The red clip on the right side of the chair (outside the tub) depresses the spring-loaded button to unlock the chair when the chair is locked on the right side of the base. The red clip on the left side of the chair (inside the tub) depresses the spring-loaded button to unlock the chair when the chair is locked on the left side of the base. There is a handle on the left side of the chair (inside the tub) for the patient to hold while being bathed.

Very nice, quality bench. Relatively sturdy considering it built of tubes. It serves needs as perfectly as possible. As advertised/better than expected. I have a roman tub & standard size bench is perfect for my bath area. However, rail height is quite close to clearance of R tub edge...abt 1". Any higher is too high for me as feet barely touch ground. Available, extra, leg extensions for higher tub edge clearance, & feet won't touch ground. Easy assembly w/push button and click in tube holes. No tools needed. Everything locks in place as promised. The levers work well for weak hands to slide & rotate seat. Also ordered the extra length bench for size/space comparisons but, the XL wasn't necessary so it was returned -UNUSED- for full refund. Overall, this was a big winner in my book!

This is the best bathing bench we’ve found. It is very sturdy, easy to assemble and easy to use. The swivel seat and easy glide is perfect for helping my Mom into the bathtub. We cut two slits in a regular shower curtain to fit around the bench and have had no issues with water on the floor. She finds the seat comfortable and feels very secure. We did purchase the additional handle to go on the seat. This allows her to extra security. Her home health assistants have high praise for this valuable assistive mechanism. Worth the extra cost - Highly recommend.

This swivel shower chair works well. I bought it for my mom who has Alzheimer Disease and balance issues and she likes it. It's a bit wide so if your bathroom is small, you may need to measure to make sure it fits. We have to store it in the bathtub to allow access to the rest of the restroom. Since it isn't heavy, this really isn't a problem. Need to get used to the levers to slide but also isn't really a problem. The positives: it's light weight so it's easy to move when needed and when it's not needed; feels secure when sitting; glides pretty smoothly; locks at both ends to secure the seat; swivel motion is pretty smooth as well, and is fairly comfortable. Not quite a negative but would have liked: for the seat to slide and stay in place without needing to lock, my mom needs it to slide a bit to position herself to dry her feet. Unless it's locked, it slides her back; the attached belt is nice if you need it, but it cannot be removed. My mom doesn't need it, so it just gets wet and we have to remember to keep the chair in the tub until it dries or it will make a puddle on the floor. Overall, I would definitely recommend it for someone who needs assistance but can do some things on their own.

The one thing I wish the item description featured were the specfic measurements of the chair, in particular its width. It's 35 inches wide and 13 of those inches hang outside of the tub. When something costs as much as this item did and is questionable for return, I feel that the item desription should err on the side of being too detailed. The picture of this item is misleading and would have you believe that it is more compact than it is. Take note -- It's wide and will protude out of the tub quite a bit. Having said all of that, I am happy with how the item was packed and shipped. I was able to put it together with little difficulty and once I manuevered it into the tub was able to make it work as described. When I use it to bathe my mom I'll have to move other items out of the way and when we are not using the chair I'll have to tuck it inside of the shower so we don't have a trip hazard. For $241 I'd rather not be inconvenienced in this way, but I can make it work.

Broke my ankle & unable to stand up in tub/shower to bathe. This item was a life saver!! I was SOLD after watching the product video!! Great for anyone with MOBILITY ISSUES ! The seat swivels & glides. Do yourself a favor & opt for the seat with backrest for added support. Best suited for a tub/shower combo with split shower curtain or large open shower. Easy to clean & can be lifted with one hand & stored in the tub when not in use. ( **Be sure that you measure your bathroom & tub space for exact fit before purchase….as it’s a hygiene product that can’t be returned ) I’d also suggest some safety grip tape around the armrest.
