What would be the thickest piece of wood this could safely cut?

Probably 1.5-2"; I cut some 1" wood with it and didn't have any issues, and the blade that came with it could have accommodated something a little thicker.

I need a saw to cut some polycarbonate sheeting ( about 1/8 inch thick ), will this saw be good/adequate? what blade should I use ?
