This is the third juicer I've owned. The previous two were centrifugal juicers and each lasted about a year. Once I realized I was serious about juicing, I spent the money on this Ventray model, which is a masticating juicer. I thought the price was reasonable. I think it does an amazing job of separating the juice from the pulp. The pulp comes out really dry. The first picture I was juicing pineapple; the second picture shows carrots. It comes with a strainer that you can set right on top of the container to catch the foam (such as from the pineapple) if you want. So far I have nothing negative to say about it, plus it's quiet! I make juice in large batches so the set up, clean up is not a big deal. If you were going to make one glass of juice it might be too big for what you want. The motor is heavy also. I did follow the recommendations in the manual and gave the juicer about a 30 minute rest between the 16 bags of juice I made (one rest break) I was afraid it might overheat (which the manual cautions you about). That might be a drawback for some, but it was OK for me. I also cut my fruits and veggies into recommended small pieces. I hope I get more than a year out of this juicer. Although the juicer has several parts , It was pretty easy to assemble and clean. The machine is surprisingly quiet compared to our old juicer.
