There is a different type of lamp (not this kind) that is used for psoriasis treatment and that doesn't block UV light so that can do the same kind of damage as the sun can. There is a possibility that if you stare at this light for long periods of time it could cause eye damage, but in the product instructions it tells you not to stare at it (although glances are fine). I cite these 3 color temperatures, 2900, 3500 and 4100 degrees because the replacement bulbs used in the unit are available in these variations. Each Kelvin degree is exactly the same size as a Celsius (or centigrade) degree used in the metric system except that zero degrees Kelvin is the super cold temperature at which all molecular motion would theoretically stop rather than the temperature at which water freezes. Same scale, just a different starting point - water freezes at about 273 degrees Kelvin. Kelvin temperature is the natural scale used by physicists to make thermodynamic calculations rather than using a scale based on the freezing and boiling points of water or some other arbitrary measure.
