Tyrannosaurus Drip : Donaldson, Julia, Roberts, David: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Brilliant - My 4 year old son got this 'from Santa' as he's crazy about dinosaurs. He LOVES it. It was read in his montessori class to children aged 2 1/2 - 5 years and they all really enjoyed it too. It's another gem from Julia Donaldson with funny illustrations and wonderful fun rhymes that flow so beautifully and easily no matter how tired you are reading it to your child at bedtime! The story is about a duckbill dinosaur egg that accidentally ends up in a tyrannosaurs nest and when it hatches, the t-rex family are full of disappointment and critisism for the baby duckbill dinosaur, calling him 'Tyrannosaurus Drip'. He tries to fit in but simply can't so he runs away and finds himself drawn to the water, discovering he can swim! He's welcomed by a herd of duckbill dinosaurs who are full of encouragement and little Tyrannosaurus Drip can't believe it when he looks into the water and realises that he's not a tyrannosaurus at all but a duckbill dinosaur. One night a storm blows a tree across the river, allowing the t-rex family to cross to the duckbills (whom they want to eat) but little Tyrannosaurus Drip scares them by pointing out their own reflections in the water and they jump with fright, breaking the fallen tree trunk, falling into the water and being washed off down a waterfall. In the end, Tyrannosaurus Drip is the hero and lives happily ever after with his new name 'Duckbill Drip'. If I had a complaint about the story it's that I don't like the idea of the 'running away from home' bit but it's not enough to take from the sheer delight this book brings. I've read it maybe 100 times by my son's request in less than a year and I'm not bored of it yet! Review: One of Julia Donaldson's finest; beautifully illustrated - I love this book. Though clearly, from other reviews, it's a bit of a marmite offering. In my view, Tyrannosaurus Drip is, with the Gruffalo, the best of Julia Donaldson's books, if one of the least well known. Great story (a skewed, more entertaining version of "the ugly duckling"), lovely catchy rhyming, beautiful illustrations. I've bought several as gifts for pre-school children over the years, who all enjoyed it. One of my colleagues' boys still recites it nearly a decade later. Get the bigger size to fully appreciate the fabulous artwork. CD is a bonus (especially for a gift!) but not essential.

One of the best children's books ever written!
My son loves this book and so do I, it is definitely in our top ten of favourite books. Julia Donaldson has to be one of the most creative children's authors around and David Roberts' illustrations suit the book perfectly. The story follows Tyrannosaurus Drip journey from being a egg in the wrong nest to finding his way back to his Duckbill Dinosaur herd. The rhyming is perfect and the story is amusing and cute. A fantastic book for children and parents.

Underrated classic!
I love this book, it was recommended by a primary school teacher as one for our bookshelf and I do enjoy it! A great addition to the collection. We have a 3 year old and this will still be a good read as they get older

Children Love This Book
I used this book with my class as a Literacy/Drama Lesson. We all had a great time immersing ourselves in the various dinosaur groups, good and bad. This encouraged the children to study the book for themselves and act out the various characters. We were able to borrow copies from other classes so all the children were able to gain access to the story. It enabled the children to improve their reading skills. JUlia Donaldson does it again!

A lovely book for children who like dinosaur stories
This book was for my great grandson who likes dinosaurs very much. I think he would have enjoyed the story and pictures. It was well written I feel, as usual with the author of these children's books.

Spedizione veloce e libro comprato usato praticamente nuovo, quando giri le pagine sono ancora dure. In stato eccellente anche la sovracopertina che normalmente tende ad usurarsi un pochino

I love this book. Donaldson has delivered, once again, with a catchily-cadenced and memorable story, and the drawings are totally FANTASTIC!! I hope she keeps working with this guy (David Roberts) because I'm really loving his work. This book is great for ages 3-5, I'd say. Maybe older, too.
