Good Place To Start
I got into RC flying about 2 years ago after I retired. I had a friend who got me started on the hobby and provided guidance on building and flying my first plane. I agree with all the advice in this book and I think it will help someone who is trying to learn to fly on their own. Training on a flight simulator is invaluable and the suggested list of planes is a good place to start for someone new to the hobby. My first plane was built up from a pile of balsa wood with an old school nitro glow fuel engine. I plan on purchasing one of the electric models suggested in the book to enhance my flying skills. Crashes and hard landings are all part of the learning process for the beginner. This book should shorten the learning curve as intended by the author.

Its ok
By no means is this an in-depth book and nor is it bad. I wouldn't get this if you're trying to understand for deeper insights. It's a quick read. There's more information than you'd get from reading the manual, but not by much. It was nice learning about the experiences the author had and hearing his opinions. He also dives in further to discuss RC airplane topics like being part of a club and other near topics. It was like listening to a seasoned hobby store employee. You won't find any building insights or opinions of wood framed kits. This is strictly about foam aircraft. It would have been nice to learn more. Again, this isn't a bad book. The target audience for this new foam RC airplane enthusiast interested in basic insights slightly beyond the included manual. I gave it 3 stars simply because it didn't meet my expectations. I do other RC and rocketry.

Good book
Well worth the price. Anyone getting into RC aircraft flying should read this book and pay attention to his recommendations. It is a light, quick read with a lot of common sense between the covers.. This suitable for readers between 10 and 80!

Basic info to get started in aircraft.
The book has really basic info for getting into RC aircraft. Quite a bit I already knew from experience with boats, cars and tanks and the fact that I went through real flight school to become a pilot. There was some food for thought on simulators and club info that I wasn't aware of. Good primer book.

Pretty boring and useless even for beginner like me, especially when you pay 11 dollars for the book. Half of the book is just a list of recommended training planes for beginners which you can get on many sites for free. The entire book contained only a couple of useful hints even though I have never flew RC model yet and just bought RC Sim last week.

yeah it is really good. but few choices or no choices for buying those real RC models. All available RC MODELS are toys. But the book is really good for any RC enthusiastic.
