Review: Awesome filter! Nasty campground water no longer... - I have run these for years in my RV and they work killer! Here's some more in-depth thoughts: Pros: - These work better than I had expected. Just hook them up to the water source, hook your hose to it, run it to your trailer and viola` clean and good tasting water. Some of the places we have visited have had water that I wouldn't feed to my worst enemy. With this thing attached, it's very good tasting. - I like the hose attachment that comes with this to aide in adding flexibility to the system and not put too much strain on the system. I have bought so many of these, I now use one attaching the filter to the nozzle, one out of the filter to my hose, and one attaching my hose to the trailer. Notes: - I will note that the manufacturer suggesting using these for only 1 camping season, and this makes sense. That's what I do, and it seems to work out great. It's not too much $ to replace every season. - Another note, when first putting this filter into service (just the first time of the season, subsequent hook-ups wont do this) there will be a bunch of carbon (black in the water) that comes out of the faucet in your trailer. This is perfectly fine, safe, and of no issue. This is the filter breaking in and getting the extra carbon out of the system. There is no health concern with this happening. I just run the faucet until it clears up, and then we're good to go for the rest of the season. - Last note, when we unhook from our camping spot, I swing the filter in my hand with my arm extended (using centrifugal force, not centrifical, look it up) to get the residual water out of the filter so it doesn't sit in there and spoil. I do this until I get most of the water drops to stop, leave it out on the counter to dry, and boom, it's perfect the next time. Cons: - None to report Overall this filter does a great job taking care of some seriously nasty campground water that we've encountered all over the Southwest US. I cannot recommend it any higher. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: If the filter is not used for a while and is still wet on the inside will it go bad from lack of use between trips?**
A: Why not just hook it up to your hose and run fresh water through it before you hook up to your RV? For instance when you first use a Pur water filter you have to run water through it for several minutes to clean out the charcoal residue.

**Q: Will this eliminate theplastic taste from my new hose?**
A: It worked for me. You'll get the best results when the filter is installed on the camper side of the hose, rather than the spigot side. 
Another commenter stated doubt that the filter does anything at all. Last summer I moved to a town with the most disgusting smelling water I've ever encountered - like really strong waterbed chemicals plus the inside of a hot dumpster. The smell even lingered in my clean, dried and fabric softenered laundry. Idk how the people of the town weren't rioting over it. This filter immediately and completely removed all the unpleasantness. It must be doing at least some of what it claims! If I'd stayed there longer than 4 months, I absolutely would have figured out how to install this filter at the washing machine in the main house. 
If there's a chance you'll ever be staying in Fairland, Oklahoma, do yourself a favor and keep one of these filters on hand.

**Q: How is this installed? Is it installed inside the RV "permanently" or is it used at the the end of the garden hose only when filling the RV?**
A: No it is installed outside at the tap then your hose. Reminder when you first use it  a burst of black stuff will come out that is charcoal and its temporary. This is a temporary filter when it gets dirty its a throw away.I love it so much better than a permanent one which you have to fiddle with under a sink.

**Q: How long does this filter last?**
A: We have very hard water here, and the filter lasts 4-6 months with full-time use for one person; the time of changing the filter varies with my work schedule and time of year (more showers in the heat of southern California; cooking more at home when I am not working); I tend to change it more often than most (every three to four months) because I am a full-time RV'er and do not want the challenge of replacing mineral-clogged hoses in my RV. The filter I am using now has been in operation  six months...thanks for the reminder to change it!!
