This thing works exactly as described and far better than anything else I’ve tried for my lathe and plaster walls. The quality is excellent and it could not be simpler to use - ingenious, really.

Best stud finder I’ve used. I have thick plaster/gypsum walls making electric stud fibers difficult to use. No only can I find the nails in my walls but even my ceiling where electric stud finders have failed me as well.

This is hands-down the simplest and most reliable stud finder I’ve ever used. No batteries, no calibration, no false readings—just works. The strong magnet snaps right to the stud screw, and the visual and audible click make it incredibly satisfying and foolproof.

I need to install a grab bar on a ceramic tile wall. I wanted all six screws to go into the wood studs but two electronic stud finders were giving erratic readings (even in Deep Scan mode) that would have sent me the wrong way. StudPop easily found the screws holding the cement board to the studs! I drilled all six pilot holes through the tile with great accuracy! This simple tool worked perfectly!

For me to take time out of my crammed packed schedule to review sometime typically means it's either the worst product ever or so awesome it completely blows my socks off. Well this is the latter. So easy to use, took me no time at all to find the studs in my plaster walls. Could've saved myself so much hassle had I bought this earlier. It's great. Buy it.

This thing rocks! I've spent a fair amount of money on electronic stud finders over the years and none of them really worked very well. This thing does. I've tried it on sheetrock, tile, and wood paneling. It worked great on all three.

I had high hopes for the StudPoP® "Original", but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. While it does eventually find metal fasteners in studs, it's not as quick or effortless as advertised. You have to move it slowly and carefully across the surface, which makes it less efficient than other stud finders I’ve used. That said, it does work once you find the right spot, and I appreciate that it doesn’t require batteries. However, if you’re looking for fast, reliable stud detection, you might want to consider other options.

A simple and effective way to locate wall studs. This detector is magnetic and works by reacting to nails or drywall screws. It works when the electronic detectors don't. And, it doesn't need batteries.

For years I have shied away from stud work, mostly because it was just too tricky to locate them accurately. I had previously bought an electronic detector which was okay(ish) for electrical cables but utterly useless for studs. Then I needed to install a 100" projector screen for a home cinema project, and I knew I couldn't just screw it into plasterboard. After some research, I saw this advertised on You Tube, thought it was worth a try. To my amazement, I was able to locate all the studs behind the sloping ceiling plasterboard and mark them within a few minutes from opening the plastic packing. The little toggle moves and clicks, clearly indicating the nails or screws in the plasterboard and, therefore, the precise location of studwork. The screen is now mounted securely on battens screwed across six roof studs. Small, simple and damned effective. Easily worth the money.
