It's a little bigger than toddler shoe box. It was less than 4lbs. **Q: Can you actually build a car (most important!) and the other stuff shown in the pic with this set? Thanks!** A: Yes, everything shown on the container can be built with included pieces. My daughter got this two weeks ago has been building away. **Q: What is the recommended age for these?** A: As these are small parts, they are not recommended for anyone under age 3. I bought the larger blocks for my kiddos until age 5 when their fingers were developed enough to manipulate the smaller pieces with minimal frustration. Legos are very much an all ages activity but on average, the boys I have seen grow tend to like them from about 5 to 13 or so.
