Thailand Islands and Beaches

This book, along with Alexa, are both amazing. I had a trip planned with my best friend who had to cancel a week before we left due to a health crisis. I was unsure if I would still go to Thailand. After emailing Alexa I decided to not only go to Thailand by myself, but also Cambodia. I stayed the three weeks in both countries alone. This book and her Cambodia book were with me the entire time. I highly recommend these books for all travelers. Thank you for your knowledge and experice Alexa!

We used this book to help choose which areas of Thailand to visit and our trip turned out great! Even though the book is several years old, the advice on places to stay, restaurants and things to do are very useful.

Love this guide. I’m traveling to Thailand in 6 weeks and never would have had the courage to book the trip if not for Alexa’s guides. She covers everything you need to know, places to visit, scams to avoid, best routes to get around, a cheat sheet for food, and even a list of clinics for any gynecological needs. Best of all she lists her contact info in the book and is available to answer all of your questions, even the weird neurotic questions you have about every single little thing because you have anxiety issues and you’re freaking out because it’s your first international trip (this really happened and she was so helpful). It’s like having a BFF in Thailand. I highly recommend.

This is my second book by this author and I am consistently impressed with the accuracy and humor on every page. Alexa really outlines the beaches of Thailand for someone, like me, who isn’t familiar with that area and makes everything easy to understand! Specifically, the way she described Koh Lanta (I had no idea they didn’t even have electricity until 1996!!!!) really made me fall in love with that island. When we arrived there, it was exactly how she describes – gorgeous, unspoiled beaches without tons of tourists. It felt like we had this beautiful place all to ourselves, it was perfect. This book is a work of art. Highly recommend this and others by Alexa West.

This book is sooo informational! I can’t wait to re-plan my Thailand trip! I have a completely different trip planned after reading this book. Honest opinions and humor through out. Doesn’t at all have to be a girls solo trip for any of the advice she gives (even if you’re planning a trip with friends/significant other this book rocks!) Aside from this book, I have also purchased "Thailand - The solo girls guide", as well as "South East Asia - Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam". Alexa's books are absolutely amazing any form of advice you need, things to do, how to stay safe, MUST see places to how to get around on any form of transportation Alexa lists it all! There's something in her book for any budget and any person male or female.

Alexa's books are a MUST for any solo female traveler. It is very easy and enjoyable to read. She is very detailed and informative, which makes me feel very empowered when I travel solo!

I brought this book for my daughter for her birthday as she was planning a trip to Thailand. This provided some great tips & she even booked some of the accommodation recommend. One in particular which was amazing!

We enjoyed all the pointers and hit all the sites near us. Great trip. Follow the recommendation to try the papaya salad!!! It was phenomenal! We make it now at home! The hotel pricing noted, as expected after such a publication, has gone up quite a bit and booking is a challenge but we got into a couple of hotels this round she recommended highly. Can't wait! I recommend this guide for fun loving gals and couples to get acquainted fast and have a fantastic adventure!

If you want to lug a 2000 page encyclopedia around the islands, then this book isn't for you. But if you want a fun, informal, yet still comprehensive guide to the best spots without any fluff. And one which feels like it's been written by someone who's actually been to these places - then this is your calling This is my third book by Alexa West and I'll probably buy everything else she puts out. love love love her books!
