If you are a first time user, you'll need to find instructions on the internet or Youtube (for any model, they are all similar). Mine arrive without butane but I had ordered refill butane and refilled it. It takes a few clicks to start but works well after. I'll likely order another to compare this brand to but I used the torch on three poured paintings. The dial for flame control is a little less precise than I'd like but I feel like this was a decent value. Contacted seller who sent a replacement but same experience. Cannot understand what could account for this other than a product defect in both of these.ADDENDUM: After applying the answer to one of the questions (valve fully “off” to fill with butane), the second torch lights and functions fine.
