My 1st time toning and it was so simple!
I finally went from decades of box color brown (#5) to embracing the gray. A few months ago my hairdresser took my professionally highlighted hair (which was my in-between step from brown to gray), and went a very nice slightly warm gray. As it goes, the toner she’d used faded after three months and my own silvery grays are growing beautifully but neutral, whereas the colored hair got brassy. Friends will tell you about it so ya know when it’s time :D I really want to be independent versus spending tons of money and time at the salon, so while at a beauty store to buy a powder brush I asked about toners and they quickly recommended this hair toner plus a Wella processor to do the job. I have a lot of very sick long hair, and the entire bottle +2 parts developer was jussst enough on my head. Any less and I’d need to buy two bottles of each . It really was easy. I just squirted my hair with a water bottle to lose damp, mix the developer and color in a bowl with a hair color brush. Then with gloves on grabbed gobs of it and worked it in from the ends, until I got close to my natural color line. Right now I have about 3 inches of my natural gray/silver roots. Then I took the hair color brush and with some product on it brushed it up towards my own color until met it all around the edges of my hairlines. I also roughly picked up chunks at a time and did it throughout my head versus bothered with foils which are overkill I’d say. This isn’t color, it’s just toner. And I would really recommend that approach. Instructions, people and the Internet recommend but after waiting 20 to 25 minutes you then work the toner into your whole head of hair, including your neutral natural gray roots. I did this but I won’t do it again. If you’re growing out gray that are neutral and you have brassy colored hair that you’re trying to match to it, just skip the step of working it into your roots. Even five minutes on the roots shifted it a little more cool and towards purple and I didn’t need that at all. Still, it turned out nice and neutral overall. I’ll definitely do this regularly, every few months. It does have a very slight dullness to it but as I understand it, this is the best you get unless you also get highlights. It was the same way when I got it professionally done and my hairdresser knows a ton about color chemicals. This toner is what will help me grow my grays out, with occasional highlight tweaks from my hairdresser. And I have two years worth of hair length :)

Fantastic toner. Have been using this for years.
Cannot stress enough how much I love this product. The color of the toner covers my gray and adds a rich ashy depth to my existing color. I have been using this product for years now. It is very gentle on hair and lasts approximately a month before having to reapply.

Maravilloso 🥰🥰🥰
I recently tried a hair toner and I’m honestly impressed with the results. After lightening my hair, I noticed some unwanted yellow and brassy tones, and this toner helped neutralize them beautifully. Hair toners are designed to adjust the tone of color-treated hair and cancel out unwanted undertones without changing the overall hair color.

Great toner
It brought my bleached hair to a cool tone that im super happy with. The product has a strong smell but that’s common for toner. It was easy to mix and apply as well.

Happy with the results this time.
It’s really about trial and error when toning your hair. I’ve been coloring my hair for almost 20 years. I generally only used lightener and it always had a bit of yellow/orange shade but overall not too bad since I colored it every few weeks. I’d say my hair after lightening is about a level 10 on top but I had different shades underneath that were prob 7/8/9. My natural hair color is pretty dark so my roots would usually look an orange shade after coloring but would fade after a few days so I didn’t mind it too much. I’ve tried toning my hair several times with T18 and never liked how it turned out so I gave up. T18 always left my hair gray and too dark, when I wanted to achieve more of a white platinum blonde. I realize now that I wasn’t lightening my hair correctly and had so many different tones in it. I’m finally happy with my results. Here’s what I did to tone my hair: When using wella lightener, I made sure my roots and strands were even in color (start from the back of the hair to the roots). Avoid bleached strands that are already at the color you desire and/or broken. Section, using hair styling clips and use foil. Use a mirror to get the back of your hair or have someone assist. You want to put the lightener on as quickly as possible to avoid different shades in your hair. *Your hair must be a level 9/10 before using light blonde toners. After my hair was about a level 9/10, I used one bottle of T15 pale beige blonde and 2 developer, one quarter bottle of T18 lightest ash blonde and 2 quarter developer, and one quarter T10 pale blonde and 2 quarter developer mixed together. Make sure it’s a 1:2 ratio or the toner will not work (I used the empty wella toner bottle to measure). Again make sure to put on the toner as quickly as possible, this time starting at the roots to the back and do front strands last since these are generally the lightest. Things I learned toning my hair to achieve the lightest blonde: You have to make sure your hair is light enough and at least a level 9 or 10. Google pictures to compare. Make sure your hair is mainly one color. If there are a ton of different shades it will prob have tones of grayish/ brown. Wash out toner on strands that are lighter first to avoid it turning purple or gray/brown. The directions say to leave in up to 30 min but you want to constantly check before then, and wash out a small strand to see if it’s at the color you desire. Depending on your hair color it can develop faster than the 30 min. If I don’t like how it turned out, I wait a few days/weeks and highlight again and tone (not recommended if your hair is damaged). Clarifying shampoo will be your best friend if you don’t like the results. This shampoo can also damage your hair. Purple shampoo will help correct if you still have brassy tones. Follow the color wheel orange=blue toner. Yellow= purple toner. Watch YouTube tutorials from professional hair stylist. It’s exhausting toning your own hair correctly. There’s a reason hair stylist charge so much money! Lol If you don’t like the toner you used try a different color next time.

The secret to the perfect cool-toned blonde
T14 is my absolute go-to for getting rid of stubborn brassy orange tones. It gives such a beautiful, pale "ash" finish without making the hair look muddy. It’s easy to mix and apply, and the results look like I just stepped out of a professional salon. Definitely a staple for DIY hair maintenance.

Very gray
I have very light yellow bleach blonde hair. I did about 1toner to 2.5 developer ratio and left it on my hair for about 30 mins total including application which was around 10 mins alone. The second pic is my before, it was too yellow. My hair now looks too gray for my preference. I was hoping for a white look. Next time i will mix 1:3 ratio and see my outcome. But it gets 5 stars because it’s spot on to the color on the box haha but I’ll be honest, in person it looks more silver/gray so be very careful. It can quickly turn your hair ash blue. Luckily i diluted it slightly with more developer.
