I really like them **Q: How well would these work for oral surgery** A: I have used round gel packs for localized swelling on my face after surgery. The small round ones work well for "spot" treatment, like for a single tooth extraction. If you are having extensive surgery you might need one of the longer oblong-shaped gel packs. I was told to put a layer or two of paper towel between my skin and the gel pack so it is still cold but doesn't stick to the soft tissue of the face. Unfortunately, when I bought these one of the packs was leaking on arrival and one leaked shortly after freezing.
