Dark Horse Comics Berserk Deluxe Volume 3

Berserk Vol. 3 really dives deeper into the series’ dark and brutal world. The story is intense, with chilling moments that show just how unforgiving this world can be. You start to see the real struggles of the characters, and it’s hard to look away. The artwork is fantastic — detailed, expressive, and hauntingly beautiful. The battle scenes are chaotic but perfectly captured, and the emotions really come through in every panel. The physical volume is high quality, with crisp pages and a solid cover. For Berserk fans, this volume is essential. It continues to build the dark, gripping story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

My son is into these books, not necessarily for the story content, but more the art and that they are well written. The books read like typical Japanese books, back to front. The art is black and white. The bindings/spine of the books are well made. While the paper is not extremely fine paper it is also not cheap or rough cut, hence, this is the 3rd book in the series I have purchased for him. If you're into these types of novels I do recommend these books as quality books.

Why I think it’s a good purchase. Volume 3 marks the start of the Golden Age arc, where we finally see Guts’ past and how his brutal world shaped him. His meeting with Griffith and the Band of the Hawk adds depth and purpose to the story, showing that Berserk is more than just violence — it’s about ambition, loyalty, and destiny. Miura’s art improves dramatically here, with cinematic battles and powerful emotion. This is where Berserk finds its heart.

Deluxe Edition Vol. 3 takes the Golden Age arc to another level. The emotional tension between characters intensifies, especially as ambition and personal identity begin to clash. This is where relationships become more complex — and more fragile. What makes this volume powerful is the psychological depth. It’s not just about battles anymore; it’s about purpose. You start to see the internal conflicts driving each character, and the story gains a tragic undertone that lingers beneath every victory. Miura’s artwork continues to be extraordinary. The level of detail in armor, expressions, and large-scale battle scenes is unmatched. In the oversized deluxe format, every panel feels cinematic and immersive. Some pages are so intricately drawn they demand to be studied. Volume 3 feels like the calm before something inevitable. The tension is building, the stakes are rising, and you can sense that the path forward won’t be simple. A crucial volume in one of the greatest manga series ever created.

I really don’t usually read stuff like this, (i wanted to try something new) however… This series is sooooo good i have finished these books so fast and can’t seem to put them down!! I have ordered other manga to try, yet i just CAN NOT put this one down when i go to read 😂 Main character is a real good lookin dude! Strong and stoic 🩷 Totally in love with these books!! I already ordered and read chapter one of deluxe version 4 thank you SOOOO much 🩷

The product arrived quick & the customer support was good. That’s why I give it a 2 stars. But if your picky like me & want everything as is should be. Then this is a problem. The signature Symbol on the cover is all messed up!! (You can see in the first image what it looked like & the second image is how the cover should look like) The symbol was in the exact same texture as the rest of the cover, I could hardly see it because it just blends in on it. The symbol should be darker & a smoother texture then the rest of the cover. I bought the book & got the bad cover so I contacted support & they helped me & either offered me to keep the book & get 20% off on it or that they send me a new copy. Obviously I choose the new copy. When I received it, the new had the exact same problem!! I bought another one at the same time thought Amazon but from a bookstore seller & it also arrived looking the same. So it seems to be more the printer of the book DarkHorse that doesn’t have that good printing or checking. Because there so many wrong printed books & so many other people who got so many other problems. Like I have seen posts of the book being printed with all pages in random order, one book was printed backwards & one book was printed without the symbol on the cover at all (how is that even possible). Mistakes like this are SUPER rare in the book printing world. You don’t ever almost buy a book with so many copies being messed up.

The story gets better and better. And so does the art. All the designs and dark little twists in the story ate excellent. A must read.

Berserk is just amazing.
