Like the thermal carafe, as opposed to hot plate. - My 2nd Bunn Coffee maker, only because I wanted the thermal carafe instead of the hot plate. Brews a hot pot in just 4 minutes and keeps it perfect temperature for the roughly 1.5 hours that I drink coffee. Also, I switched back to the Bunn papers filters (from Gold Tone reusable) - it does improve the taste. If you are brewing full pots (as I do), use the taller Bunn filter to prevent overflow. We drink coffee every morning. Unless we are going on vacation, we leave our reservoir on. (Not the warmer plate) If you turn the reservoir off, you will have to wait for it to bring the water in the tank up to temp, or you will have cold coffee. The point of owning a Bunn is having hot coffee readily available. Not possible if you turn it off. **Q: What are the height and depth of the carafe?** A: The depth is 12.5 inches, height is 15 inches. Easiest and quick coffee brewing. I had a ninja, was great at first but had issues and ninja replaced my first one after a year and the second one worked well for a year and half. So I went back to Bunn.
