It attaches by one low profile screw on bottom and shoe pinch on top. Quick Cage (DSLR, Small) includes a quick release dovetail which can attach to tripod plates or existing 15mm support bases. Locking mech. for the plate is a nice design as well.... Things I don't like about it.... It is impossible to remove the cage without taking all three pieces apart, which if there are times you don't need the cage (say you are using your dslr for photos and not video) then it takes a few minutes to take this thing off. Other thing I don't love is that it is advertised to fit cameras like the 60d, and it does but the rod does not extend fully through both holes on the top and bottom bracket, So you end up having to torque the hole to keep the rod in place.
