The Never-Rust Razor: Rapala 4" Ceramic Utility Knife
TLDR: Extremely sharp, corrosion-proof ceramic utility knife. Retains its edge exceptionally well, requires no sharpening, and is lightweight with a comfortable soft-grip handle. Excellent for fishing/bait prep, but ceramic blades are brittle and must be handled with care. I bought the Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife Black, 4" (RCUKB4) because I was tired of constantly dealing with rust and dull blades on my steel fishing and bait knives. The promise of a blade that is "2X sharper and 15X edge retainment" compared to steel, coupled with its completely corrosion-proof ceramic material, was exactly what I needed for a saltwater fishing environment. My initial thought was that this knife felt incredibly light—almost toy-like—but the molded soft-grip handle felt secure and comfortable in my hand, establishing confidence for use even when wet. My experience with the RCUKB4 has been fantastic, specifically for its intended purpose: cutting bait and light utility tasks around the boat. The blade is razor sharp and makes effortless, clean cuts through squid, fishing line, and softer materials. The corrosion resistance is genuine; after being exposed to saltwater and rinsed, there is absolutely no sign of rust or degradation, unlike my previous steel knives. The compression sheath is a small but crucial feature, holding the knife securely and safely for transport. The biggest mental hurdle is remembering that the ceramic blade, while incredibly hard and sharp, is also brittle. I avoid any twisting, prying, or chopping motions that could easily chip or snap the ceramic. This is a precision cutting tool, not a demolition tool. Pros Exceptional Sharpness: It is significantly sharper than standard steel utility knives right out of the box. Superior Edge Retention: The ceramic blade holds its edge for an incredibly long time, eliminating the need for frequent sharpening. 100% Corrosion Proof: Will never rust, making it perfect for marine and humid outdoor environments. Comfortable Handle: Molded soft-grip handle provides excellent non-slip control, even when wet. Secure Sheath: The compression sheath holds the knife tightly for safe storage and transport. Lightweight: Easy to carry in a tackle box or on a vest. Cons Brittle Blade: Ceramic is prone to chipping or breaking if dropped or used for prying or twisting motions. No Sharpening: While a pro, it's also a con—if you do manage to dull or damage the edge, sharpening ceramic requires specialized tools. Utility Limitation: Not suitable for heavy-duty tasks where force or bending is required. Verdict The Rapala 4" Ceramic Utility Knife delivers exactly what it promises: an unbelievably sharp, completely rust-free cutting tool that maintains its edge season after season. It's a game-changer for anyone dealing with bait, fishing line, or general utility cutting where corrosion is a problem. You must respect its ceramic nature and treat it as a precision cutting instrument, but if you do, it will reward you with superior performance. It is worth the price for its unparalleled sharpness and rust-proof properties. This knife is best for fishermen, boaters, and anyone needing a reliable, sharp, and lightweight utility knife in a wet environment. It earns a 5 star rating for excelling at its intended purpose.

Super sharp for cutting Dyneema
Great ceramic knife with sheath. if you're like me, and do a fair amount of splicing with dyneema, you need a knife like this as the sharpest of regular knives go dull quickly. These ceramic knives just don't wear out. They are brittle, so care is needed to not break the blade off the handle, but I save the broken blades as they will be handy.

Sharp and no rust after a few weeks in humidity
Pros: good corrosion resistance in a hot/humid environment after a few weeks, sharp, decent grip and sheath Cons: more expensive than competitors, I'm unsure how brittle the blade is, but I would be worried about dropping it.

Uber Bargain
I love finding interesting and useful knives at bargain prices. The blade is razor sharp as are many ceramic blades, and the handle is ergonomic and grippy and features an index finger groove to avoid that scary sharp blade. Also the knife is featherweight for those gram counting packers or minimalists. Ceramic knives have some limitations. Never use one to pry or chop with any kind of force. They will chip or break, especially the tip. You don't want to be far out on the trail and have that happen- "steel is real" for survival situations. Use ceramics for slicing relatively soft items and they will stay sharp virtually forever.

Inexpensive but well constructed ceramic knife
It's a ceramic knife. Don't use this to pry or chop. It holds an edge. It is SHARP. Surprised at the quality. Did not expect it from a blade under $15. Zero metal inserts on knife or sheath. Much better than those Grivory, Nylon 66, carbon fiber, or fiberglass infused plastic knives.

Very sharp
I would have given this a 5 good size very concealable very sharp. But I pulled this out off my pocket the blade and sheath stayed in my pocket. Didn’t break the blade came out of the handle. I am going to try and put some epoxy on it and see what happens

I use this for my dinner because I was tired of steel knives dulling against ceramic, etc. plates. It works very well & as I type this, is still shaving sharp after many uses. It hasn't lost that "prickly, sticky" edge & I expect it to last many more meals. Ceramic is very delicate & this knife is thin, I would not suggest using this for anything above cardboard in all honesty. It micro-chips until it's dull. As a steel & knife nerd, this definitely has its uses that I wouldn't use a $400 knife for. ... Such as dinner.
