## Description

With so many ways to use BLACK+DECKER’s portable project center and vise, this versatile workstation earns a place in every tool collection. Ideal for cutting, sawing, painting, and more applications, it’s designed with a heavy-gauge steel construction that supports up to 450 lbs. Adjustable, dual-height legs fold underneath, so you can lower the project center’s height to accommodate larger objects, and the adjustable rear jaws with 4 swivel pegs allow you to clamp irregularly shaped objects as well. When you’re all done, the project center is collapsible for simple storage in tight spaces or up on the wall.

Review: Nice tiny work bench - Does what I need it to do, holds work pieces securely and takes up little space when folded away. The one I have isn't level but a single small block of wood under one of the feet made it sturdy. The two board pieces can meet if you flip the board farthest from handles around - it will still securely sit in the bench and still be usable as a vice. The instructions are not the best, there was one diagram that was misleading - find a video of someone assembling it if you get confused. But assembly doesn't take very long and you only need to do it once.
Review: Sturdy and small foot print. - Great little work bench. As other users have stated, the instructions suck (if I recall correctly, there's actually a step in the booklet that instructs you to insert screws in the wrong holes). I had to watch a video on YouTube to make sure I was doing it correctly. Also, the little metal pin that holds the plastic turn knobs in place does not seem to fit into the holes at first; you really have to hammer them in but they will eventually fit. Pretty sturdy, small foot print, and perfect for the minimalist in me. I made a functional workbench out of it by just slapping a $20 2x4 sheet of plywood from Home Depot, screwing a scrap piece of common board 2x4 on the bottom, and clamping it together with the Workmate's vice (see pictures or YouTube). Can't beat an $80 full-size workbench; I've been using it to make some shelves and do sanding work and paint prep. Appears to be sturdy enough to put a table saw on it and I plan to make a DIY routing table as well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this bench strong enough to hook a vise and then a small metal slab in between the vise. I am using this to stamp my golf wedges and wondering if f**
A: I think it is. I've clamped concrete paver blocks that measure 12" x 8" x 5" and that are heavy. Your biggest challeng may be stability, so you need to pay attention as you work and use your foot on the built in step to keep the table steady. I've abused and gone thru three of these benches over the years (I'm rough on them). For the price and features I think they're a good buy

**Q: Why don't these come with locking caster wheels?**
A: I would also like casters on it. I’m looking for a sturdy table to use at festivals that will hold my heat press. I want it to be able to be moved from the van to the production area. Wheels would make it easier

**Q: Can this be used to do rip cuts on 6ft engineered wood planks, 7.5" wide using a jigsaw?**
A: This bench would work ok for that if you clamp board centered on the bench, HOWEVER, A JIG SAW IS NOT A RIPPING TOOL. A jigsaw is for cutting curves. You don't mention thickness of the planks, but a circular saw in skilled hands rips ok (use a rip blade on wood). A full service lumberyard will do it for you with a table saw ( the best way to rip cut)

**Q: Would this secure an AR upper receiver vise block?**
A: I doubt! This isn’t it.

Came here to see if anyone used this for gunsmithing. I think a portable vise is what you need to hold the vise block. That’s what I used. Vise is screwed on to a stable hard wood dinner table. I’m seeking something for small office and seeing what’s out there.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good bench terrible instructions
*by W***M on March 5, 2026*

it’s a good bench, but the instructions are absolutely terrible and useless. Save yourself some pain and just look up a YouTube video on assembly.
