To the casual observer it just looks like a very elegant umbrella. But with your normal umbrella cane, you can't use both at the same time- so if it rains, you're stuck either looking ridiculous getting drenched while leaning on your umbrella, or tottering along unstable but dry.The cane stays in the umbrella shaft sturdily, held by a magnet, but easily separates when needed.The umbrella opens easily, and even the way the ribs of the umbrella splay out is lovely. I know that's a weird thing to focus on, but that's me. It's a very satisfying umbrella to open and close so smoothly.Also provides some serious sun protection, pretty sure it saved me from fainting at an event last weekend when security getting in the event building was incredibly slow when there were 40,000+ plus people trying to enter. It was 90f outside with blazing sun. I heard from a friend who was on the first aid crew that 8 people in line fainted! Anyhow, the nice silver lining provides some excellent shade.Now, the only thing about it that's not completely perfect- the height isn't adjustable. I'm about 5'9", most of my height is in my legs. While the cane is in the umbrella, if I'm wearing very flat shoes, it's just long enough to be almost comfortable for me.When the cane and umbrella are separated, you lose a bit of length, making it a length where my arm is fully extended, instead of the 15 to 20 degree angle a cane should best be held at. So it does help with my balance, just, but it's uncomfortable to use, and I find myself leaning over towards it.If you're a more average height, you'll probably love it. The quality is well worth the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful umbrella, nice design. The cane when removed from the umbrella looks a little skimpy. *by C***T on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2019* Beautiful umbrella and just as shown on the pictures although maybe prettier.It arrived sooner than expected despite being free delivery and nicely packed in a box.I got it as a present for my mother abroad and she admired it, told me how beautiful it was and went straight to put it in a corner next to the other home made converted umbrellas she doesn’t use and took the other umbrella which she had someone put a rubber stopper at the bottom and took off with that one! Elderly can be very stubborn when it comes to making any changes or improvements to their routines!When I pointed out the advantage of having the cane and umbrella in one and not having to either stop or get wet when it rains and asked her why she wouldn’t use it, she plainly answered that it was to pretty for day to day use and she’d keep it for occasions only!Go figure! The cane portion is very solidly constructed - I weigh 175 lbs, and it does not flex under my weight in the least. Rubber stopper on the bottom keeps the cane from sliding.
